The SK5 high carbon steel is of the highest quality for making blades. It is a very hard steel reaching 65 on the Rockwell. Also, creating a mixture of carbon rich martinsite and a few undissolved carbides. The extra carbide will increase abrasion resistance. Therefore, SK5 is near perfection as a blade steel.
